Zavala County Bank is pleased to introduce CardValet®, a Debit Card management app that helps reduce fraud by allowing cardholders to monitor their accounts and control how, when and where their debit card is used. Cardholders simply download the free app from the Apple® App Store or Google® Play Store, and once CardValet is set up, cardholders have the ability to “turn off” their card when not in use preventing any unauthorized transactions.
CardValet offers cardholders the capability of linking additional accounts to better monitor dependent spending. For example, controls can be established for college students, along with restrictions on merchant type and spending limits.
The launch date is February 1st, so be ready to have control over your Debit Card like you have never had before.
Information programmed into the chip is personalized for your account and each transaction is unique, adding a new safeguard against fraud. There is no need to request your new card, we will start replacing cards in 2016 and 2017, depending on your card's expiration date.
How do chip cards work?
If a merchant is already using a chip-enabled terminal, paying is as easy as:
1. Insert your card, face up with the chip end nearest the terminal.
2. Leave the card in the terminal during the transaction.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen and either sign your name or enter your PIN as needed. Be sure to remove your card and take your receipt upon completion.
If a merchant isn't using a chip-enabled terminal yet, you'll still be able to 'swipe' your card to make your purchase, just as you do today.
